We explain a platform we did not build, using data we do not own. That is an odd thing to base a website on, so it is worth setting out why it exists, who writes it, and what it is careful not to claim.

Why this site exists

Path of Exile has one of the most complex player-driven economies in any game, and a build meta that shifts every few weeks. Community analytics platforms turn all of that into clean, readable numbers, which is enormously useful and also quietly dangerous, because a clean number looks settled even when it is not.

A price with four thousand listings behind it and a price with eleven look identical on screen. A damage figure calculated with every buff running looks the same as one you could actually reproduce in a fight. A build at the top of the ladder looks like the best build rather than the best funded one. Nothing on the page is wrong. It is just summarised, and summaries drop the context that tells you how much weight to put on them.

That gap is the whole reason this site is here. Every guide takes one figure or one screen, explains where the number came from, what was filtered out on the way, and the point at which it stops describing reality. Then it tells you what to check instead.

What this site is, and what it is not

The name is close enough to a well-known community tool that this needs saying plainly rather than being buried in a footer.

If you came here looking for current prices or ladder builds, you want poe.ninja itself, which is an independent project built and run by someone else entirely. This site explains how to read what you find there.

How guides get written

Every guide follows the same short process: read the official documentation and the platform itself before writing anything, walk through each step by hand in the current league, use original examples rather than reproducing anyone else's, state the limits of the data plainly, correct reported errors on the page rather than silently, and revisit guides whenever a patch or interface change makes them stale.

How this site makes money
