PoE 2 Character Listing Guides

In Path of Exile 2, not appearing on a build overview is the ordinary state for almost every character in the game. Before you troubleshoot anything, it is worth knowing how narrow the window actually is.

Almost certainly nothing is broken. There is no setting to enable, no account to link, and no site that can list a character the game has not published. The most common correct answer on this page is that the system is working exactly as designed and your character is simply outside it.

How narrow the window is

Ladders in Path of Exile 2 publish the top 1,000 entries. Not a thousand per class, not a thousand per skill. A thousand total, per ladder, per league — a limit set by Grinding Gear Games' own API rather than by any tracker.

Where the visible slice sits The column continues well past the frame

The visible slice is the top of the ladder, not a cross-section of it. In Path of Exile the equivalent window holds fifteen thousand entries, which many committed players reach. A thousand is a different proposition entirely.

Being absent from a build overview here says almost nothing about your character. It says something about a cap that most of the game sits below.

Is this actually a problem?

Work down these in order. Most people stop at the first or second row and can close the tab.

Four questions, in order
Are you realistically inside the top thousand of your league? If not, this is entirely normal. Nothing to fix, and no tool can change it.
Were you listed earlier and are not now? Then you were pushed out by other players climbing. Expected on a thousand-slot ladder and covered below.
Did you create, rename or transfer the character recently? Give it a pass or two. Build data refreshes more slowly than prices, so a recent change lags.
High rank, settled for days, and still nothing? Now it is worth checking. Privacy settings and skill attribution are the two remaining causes.

The cutoff moves even when you do not

This is the part that confuses people most, and it is a direct consequence of having only a thousand slots. Ladder rank is relative. You are not measured against a fixed threshold; you are measured against everyone else, and everyone else keeps playing.

Why you can drop out without logging in Illustrative
What it takes to hold rank 1,000 Where you are

Your character did not get worse. The bar rose past it. Early in a league the cutoff climbs fast, which is why characters that appeared in week one routinely vanish by week three without their owner doing anything at all.

The practical implication is that being listed is a moment rather than a state. If you want a record of a character, export it while it is visible — once it drops below the cap there is nothing to retrieve, from any site.

The three causes that are not the cap

If you are genuinely high-ranked and settled, three things remain. The full guide covers each in depth; this is what is different about them here.

Most likely

Account privacy

If your account is set to private, the ladder may show a rank while the character's details stay hidden. You appear as a position and not as a build, which looks like a bug and is a setting.

Nothing on this site or any other can override that, and that is the correct behaviour.

Common here

Nothing in the ladder data states which skill you consider primary — it is inferred from what is equipped. Trigger setups, aura-heavy characters and anything using more than one weapon configuration get attributed unpredictably.

You are listed. You are just not where you looked. Search unfiltered before concluding anything, because on a thousand-character ladder a single misfiling is easy to miss.

Occasional

Refresh lag

Build data is heavier to compute than prices and updates less often. A character created, renamed or newly climbed into range will not appear until the next pass, however eligible it is.

Renames are the awkward case: the old name disappears immediately and the new one takes a cycle to arrive, which reads as deletion. See what updates when.

What you can and cannot do about it

Worth doing

  • Search unfiltered before assuming absence. Skill misattribution is the single most common false alarm.
  • Check your privacy setting on the official site if you are ranked and still not visible.
  • Wait a cycle after any rename, transfer or fresh climb into range.
  • Export while you are listed if the character matters to you. Visibility is temporary by design.

Cannot help

  • Contacting any guide site. We hold no data and have no access to yours. This one included.
  • Logging in anywhere. No site needs your account to read public ladder data, and one that asks is the problem.
  • Refreshing repeatedly. The data updates on its own schedule, not on yours.
  • Anything at all, if you are below the cap. That character was never published. There is nothing to surface.

The eligibility checker walks the whole sequence from nine answers you already know. It connects to nothing and asks for nothing — deliberately, because a tool offering to log into your account to solve a mild inconvenience is a tool to close.

A last word on expectations

It is worth saying plainly, because the framing of most troubleshooting content implies otherwise: the ladder was never meant to be a record of everyone playing. It is a leaderboard. A leaderboard listing everybody would not be one.

Your character not appearing is the same fact as the leaderboard working. In a game where that board holds a thousand names, almost every character ever made in Path of Exile 2 has been outside it, including plenty that were excellent. That is not a consolation, it is just accurate.
